SPRINGS MINISTRIES

2nd UPDATE 2011

                    Children in school uniforms

Some of the orphanage children in their school uniforms. Aren’t they cute?

“Wherever there is a human being, there is opportunity for a kindness.”

“If you want others to be happy practice compassion, if you want to be happy practice compassion.”

This is our second update for this year and we thank God for His continued faithfulness to us. We also thank God for all of you who have been praying for us and always asking to find out how we are doing.

So far, the children at the orphanage have settled well including the new ones. We see them a glow in midst of many challenges but in all they are happy and this gives us great joy.

We are preparing six of the orphanage children for their final primary 8 exams that will qualify them to join high school next year. We are happy that our children who were to join high school have all joined and the ones who did their O’ levels last year have all passed very well and hopefully will join universities or Diploma Colleges. We thank God for all these.

Of late in Kenya, it has been still very dry and the weathermen are predicting prolonged drought. Already water and adequate food is a big problem. We have been hiring water tankers to bring water for the children’s use and this has proved to be very expensive, food is scarce and very expensive. The population at the orphanage has increased. We have some interns who have been helping us in our work with the children together with volunteer workers. The number is big and we have to feed them well with three meals a day. They have never missed a meal and for this we are grateful.

The school levies for the children have also gone up, we are now paying for many things needed in school. Indeed we are not having free primary Education. We would rather pay the assigned fees than assorted school levies.

In our last update, we requested you as a friend to adopt one child for prayers, up to now only seven (7) children still have been picked. We now have 35 children. Please pick one child from the photos list and let me know who you have picked. These children need to be prayed for continually by name.

Our girls at the Empowerment center are doing well. We have some new girls and we are preparing some girls for their Government Trade Test III by the end of this year. The one girl who did her exams last year passed very well. This has motivated the rest of the girls preparing for the exams.

The school uniforms we made at the beginning of this year has really boosted our expenses. Most of the funds we have used for these three months have come from the proceeds of the uniforms we supplied to schools.

For now, we are praying that God provides for the rest of the needs that are pending. Do pray for us continually for God to provide and give us other ways and ideas to raise funds to help us.

Baby Fortunata

Last time I told you about baby Raythomas. He is doing very well and he has begun to talk sensibly. He is also growing in stature. Now just two weeks ago, we were given another girl by the Children’s Department here in Kisumu. The girl is estimated to be about five or six years old. She was picked by a Good Samaritan in early November last year and up to two weeks ago nobody had claimed her. She was then brought to our orphanage for care and protection. She has been very traumatized and wild. She is not able to settle. We are praying that the spirit of God may her quiet. We have taken time to pray over her and talk positive words on her.

About these abandoned unknown children, it is like God is giving us a new direction we have been dealing with purely orphaned children, but now we are getting into another level. We have one boy still waiting to be brought to us. He is about the same age with the girl mentioned above. He is DEAF and DUMB. This is why we have been hesitant, we need to put in place all the facilities and mechanisms to help him. We are seeking God for His leading about him.

The cases of these children who have always been brought to us as unknowns, made me to think about Pharaoh’s daughter who gave a name to Moses of the Bible. Moses had no name, he was unknown until Pharaoh’s daughter gave him a meaningful name. This is exactly what I am doing with these children.

The girl was also given to us as unknown, now we have named her Fortunata Pamella and Baby Raythomas Mich was also unknown. We are waiting to get this dumb and deaf boy who also is unknown, once we get him through, we shall give him a name.

As John Wooden once said, “you can’t live a perfect day without doing something for someone who will never be able to repay you”

This is what we are doing.

Blessings of God be yours

Thank you so much

In His Vineyard
