COMMUNITY AND SCHOOL/COLLEGE GOING ORPHANS
In this programme we meet the orphans who are living with the relatives within the communities where the widows we work amongst live. We meet with them once every school holiday to explore, build self-esteem, discover and learn how to develop the skills within them towards self-reliance.
In the times of meetings, we get to know what their problems, felt needs are and find ways and means of helping people to donate clothes and foodstuffs and we give them during times of meeting.
The main activities in this programme are:-
For the school going orphans in our programme, there is nothing that gives us joy than to see one through high school and college successfully.
Many of the orphans from the community or the orphanage have made it to high schools even to various government colleges hence becoming professionals. After this session in college or school, we plough them back into the organization to help us work as volunteer staffs. This makes us proud. They are the ones that manage our various points where we sell our crafts made from the empowerment class, they also help in the office work, while others work at the orphanage. Though not all of them come back, but still we have the ones that come back.
These orphans have gone through high schools and colleges through generous financial donations we get from well-wishers and friends. Also with the funds we raise from the crafts the girls at the empowerment center make, we use to support them.
