Girls and young women are almost always the first to be taken out of school when a family member falls ill.  This greatly reduces employment opportunities later in life as they do not develop income-generating skills.  These young women are more likely to engage in sex work as a means of survival or enter into early marriages as an escape, leaving them vulnerable to HIV infection.

The Springs Ministries runs this programme to empower these young girls by offering tailoring and dressmaking courses and skills to make various artifacts.  The girls exercise their talents in this way and this is aimed at making them to be self-reliant and even be able to support their siblings. 

The activities in this programme include:

• Tailoring and Textile classes
• Dress designing and marking
• Traditional needles and earning marking
• Other general artifacts

With what girls make in this programme, we have been able to establish entrepreneurship programme that is helping us to raise funds to support the widows and orphans programmes.  We have craft shops and stalls where we sell these crafts and returns (funds raised). We use to support our programmes for this department is charged with the responsibility of fundraising.  We empower the girl child  out of school, support with fees the orphans in school and also support the children at our orphanage (Jehovah Shammah Restoration Center).
